The SoCal electric guitar Surf Music scene started about 1957 and peaked in the early '60s.

Ironically, I don't remember any single tune of actual Surf Music by The Beach Boys. Their early stuff was more like Drag Race Music. Did they hold Drag Races at the Beach? I thought those were over at Santa Ana, Irwindale and Pomona? "I wish they all could be California Cars, woo-ee-ooh-woo."

For some reason when I was out in SoCal in the '80s we used to call all the male blondes at the beach "Johnny Blondes." I think it might have been a derisive term because back then so many talked like Valley Girls except mixing in the term "Dude" here and there. Sort of like blonde male beach bimbo "wannabe surfers."

    "Wipeout...dude!"

    "Hey dude...Walk Don't Run!"

    "Look dude...Pipeline!"

    "Hey dude...Surf Beat!"

"Look dude...you can Take Your Clothes Off When You Dance."

    "It's...The Big Surfer...dude."
