I get all sorts of Intel email Updates and got this one today. About 5 minutes later I got one of Dawson's Fear & Loathing In The Great Economic Downturn Of The Cyber Age pieces in my box. So I asked him to add it here just as soon as I could find the time to add a new Forum to this Politics Group.
Preamble to the interesting "FWD: MESSAGE TO THE OATH BREAKERS AND TRAITORS" I received earlier today, below:
I just picked up a flea market grocery bag full of Grandpa's old Playboy magazinescirca '66 - '71. So the writing is covering the 2nd half of the '60s. I've been glancing through a couple of issues a night just seeing what's in them. Reading the occasional article (one by Stirling Moss, last night, on what it takes to be a competitive racing driver, I absolutely agree with over all these years--lots of John D. MacDonald short stories), and reading all the cartoons (which seemed more informative of the political and social times back then). They are real thick issues with advertising that reads right out of TV's Mad Men,sort of like reading old ads in old National Pornographic, ...'er...Geographic magazines.
What I'm finding out is many of the articles in Grandpa's Playboys are written by all the "Heavies" of the day about the exact same social and economic problems that, now 40 years later, have not been solved (even though there is an underlying feeling of optimism among the '60s writers that the next generation would correct the errors of the "Establishment."). The main Adversaries (in the Hebrew idiom "satans," the true meaning of that Old Testament word) seem to be Greed, Graft and Religion the Unholy Trinity of the Power Structure. Oops! The next generation simply gave in and too became the Establishment. Imagine that, since most of the late '60s Playboy advertising was aimed at College going Wanna-be-Yuppies. Mad Men know who the real Market is.
The writers include the longest serving U.S. Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas; Martin Luther King Jr.; Presidential advisor Aurther Schlesinger Jr.; J. Paul Getty; Art Buckwald; Norman Mailer; Kurt Vonnegut Jr.; Ray Bradbury; Jean "You'll shoot your eye out Christmas Story" Shepherd...that's the short list. The Interviews are a literal "Who's Who" of our late '60s History (and not what people think they remember about the '60s, which is often mostly memories of the early '70s).
But back then there were pretty clear demarcation lines between the armed "America Love It Or Leave It" crowd and the "Give Peace A Chance" camp.
After reading this (FWD) below, I'm not so sure the "Live Free Or Die" crowd might not be ready to merge with and arm the "Occupy Washington D.C." camp.
"Curiouser and Curiouser," Go Ask Alice through the looking glass ties, says.

We will never disarm. We will never surrender our military pattern, semi-automatic rifles and the full capacity magazines, parts, and ammunition that go with them. Thefundamental purpose of the Second Amendment is to preserve the military power of We the People so we will have effective means to resist tyranny. Regardless of what unholy, unconstitutional filth issues from the mouths of oath breakers in "Mordor on the Potomac" our answer is MOLON LABE.
"Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force: Whenever you give up that force, you are inevitably ruined."- Patrick Henry
We will not allow our children to be disarmed.
We will pass on those military pattern rifles, magazines, and ammunition to our children and our children's children.
Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birth-right of an American... [T]he unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state governments, but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people. - Tench Coxe, 1788
